"I think that if you’re really true to yourself, your heart, and your passion, you won’t necessarily see or feel the immediate impact of it, so it’s really a matter of staying focused, searching inside, and believing in yourself."
- Max Siegel
"When you’re doing what you think is the right thing to do, you’re going to be a happier, more satisfied person."
- Herrell Fletcher
As a Lifelong San Francisco 49ers Fan, I grew up through their glory days of Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young, and co. Then I went through the past ten years of futility and constant losing. Then new head coach Jim Harbaugh arrived, and everything turned around. He changed the culture, and the identity of the team, and gave all 49er fans a special power, BELIEF! I rode their wave of success this year, in equal parts utter disbelief and pure euphoria. And last week they were a game away from the Super Bowl. In Overtime, they received the ball with a chance to drive down the field for a win, but Punt Returner/WR Kyle Williams fumbled the ball, the Giants recovered the ball, scored to win the game, and broke my heart in half. So many people were enraged with Williams post game, calling him out on twitter, some even taking it as far as giving him death threats.
It was a tough situation to witness play out, and I can only hope Kyle Williams, comes back even better from this learning experience. Then I came across 7 year old Owen Shure’s letter, as he encouraged and thanked Williams, and in the process showed all us “adults” the grace we need when things don’t bounce our way.
Dear Mr. Williams:
We just watched the Playoff game. I feel really bad for you but I wanted to tell you that you had a great season. you sould be very proud, so I wanted to say thank you.
I am your #1 FAN!

Props to you Owen! It also reminded me of our interview with Wheelchair Racer Jeff Adams, who says, sometimes the loss is more important. I think this could never have been truer! Peace, Ray
